About These Terms

These terms of service (“Terms”) govern your use of the website thompsonbutchers.com and any orders you place through it. By using our website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.

This website is operated by J Thompson Butchers, 125 High St, Northallerton, DL7 8PQ (“we”, “us”, “our”).

Placing an Order

When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your basket. Your order is confirmed once payment has been successfully processed, at which point a contract is formed between you and us.

You will receive an order confirmation email with your order number and details. If we are unable to fulfil any part of your order (for example, if a product is out of stock), we will contact you as soon as possible.

You must provide accurate and complete information when placing an order, including your name, email address, phone number, and delivery address (if applicable).

Prices & Payment

All prices on our website are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable. We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but changes will not affect orders that have already been confirmed.

Payment is processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your card details on our servers. By providing your payment information, you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method.

Product weights are approximate and may vary slightly due to the nature of fresh meat. For products sold by weight, you will be charged based on the weight selected at the time of ordering.

Click & Collect

Click & Collect orders are free of charge. You can collect your order from our shop at 125 High St, Northallerton, DL7 8PQ at the date and time you selected during checkout.

Please bring your order confirmation email or order number when collecting. Orders not collected within 24 hours of the scheduled collection time may be disposed of, as our products are perishable.

Local Delivery

We offer local delivery within a 10-mile radius of our shop. A delivery fee of £5.00 applies to orders under £50.00. Delivery is free on orders of £50.00 or more.

Delivery is available on selected dates only and may be unavailable on certain days (such as bank holidays). We will deliver to the address provided during checkout. Our driver may call ahead before arriving.

As our products are perishable, please ensure someone is available to receive the delivery at the specified address. We cannot be held responsible for products left unattended or for quality issues arising from delayed collection of delivered goods.

Cancellations & Refunds

Due to the perishable nature of our products, the standard 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply to food orders. This is in accordance with the exemption for perishable goods.

Once your order status is “preparing”, it cannot be cancelled as our butchers will have begun working on it.

If you receive products that are damaged, defective, or not as described, please contact us within 24 hours of receiving your order. We will offer a refund or replacement at our discretion, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Voucher Codes

Voucher codes are subject to their own terms, which may include minimum order values, expiry dates, and usage limits. Voucher codes cannot be exchanged for cash and may not be combined with other offers unless stated otherwise. We reserve the right to withdraw or modify voucher codes at any time.

User Accounts

Creating an account is optional. If you choose to create one, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. Please use a strong, unique password and notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.

You can delete your account at any time through your account settings. This will remove your profile data, wishlist, and saved addresses. Order records will be retained as required by law.

Product Descriptions

We make every effort to ensure product descriptions, images, and prices are accurate. However, as our products are fresh and hand-prepared, there may be slight variations in appearance, weight, and composition. Product images are for illustration purposes and may not exactly represent the product you receive.

If you have any allergen concerns, please check our allergen information on the product page or contact us before ordering. While we label known allergens, our products are prepared in an environment where allergens are present.

Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, branding, and design — is owned by J Thompson Butchers and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from this website without our written permission.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, J Thompson Butchers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from the use of our website or the purchase of our products.

Our total liability for any claim relating to an order shall not exceed the total amount you paid for that order. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date. Your continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
